What does all-inclusive pricing mean?

Rental Apartment Cost and Basic Services.

Assisted living communities have a rental price for residents. They are similar to apartment living in providing lodging for senior residents, but provide extra services so that seniors age 55+ can enjoy carefree, maintenance-free living. This includes:

  • 3 meals/day
  • Housekeeping/linen service and daily trash removal
  • Life enrichment and activities
  • Scheduled transportation to doctor appointments
  • Emergency call system
  • Basic cable and TV
  • Basic utilities like heating, air conditioning (except for personal utilities like phone and personal internet)
  • Maintenance on-site, including pest control, lawn care, and apartment repairs
  • Hair stylist available

All of the above are included in the base pricing for most assisted living communities.

Wellness Support.

A key component of assisted living is providing assistance with activities of daily living. This includes:

  • Medication management including re-ordering medications from the pharmacy
  • Stand-assistance with showers
  • Grooming/hygiene assistance
  • AM/PM Care with dressing and bedtime undressing
  • Standby assistance with toileting
  • Incontinence care
  • Safety checks daily
  • Coordination of care with home health and hospice providers
  • Verbal reminders and/or assistance to go to meals and activities
  • One or two-person transfer assistance
  • Other tasks

Buyer Beware.

You might be quoted a rate from a facility that seems modest and within your price range.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Most assisted living community rates do not include Wellness Support services in their base rate. It’s important to ask what “care” services are included in the rate you receive.

Many facilities use a “point system” to determine how many times a day one might provide medications to a resident, or the need to assist the resident with toileting, or to re-direct a resident to meals/activities.

Therefore, the rate is not always clear when you are comparing pricing between facilities. An assessment of your care needs is required to determine the rate and the rate might be adjusted without warning if it is determined your needs are more than the assessed rate.

It is an unpleasant surprise when an affordable monthly rate soon balloons into a much higher commitment, ranging from $400 to $2,000/month more.  A steep increase in care costs will see your nest egg rapidly depleted.

The Villa Difference, all-inclusive pricing

The Villa difference

Villa has an all-inclusive price that includes your apartment and basic services PLUS wellness support.

When you move to Villa, you will sign a lease for a fixed rate to include basic services plus care. Ninety percent of Villa customers are on an all-inclusive plan. If you have a significant change in care or behavior, the Wellness Director will arrange a Care Plan meeting with you and your family. At this time Villa’s maximum additional care fee is $300/month.

The Villas are family-owned and believe trust is a key factor in a successful relationship. Villa believes its transparent all-inclusive rates are key to maintaining open communication and trust as they care for their seniors.
