from the Villa Assisted Living Care Team

Spotlight on Wellness Director, Stephanie Lozano, LVN

Wellness Director Stephanie Lozano, LVN is a key member of our Villa leadership team. We are delighted to have a person with Stephanie’s solid clinical skills as well as an ability to positively interact with clients, families, vendors, and referral sources. Most recently, Stephanie has been a private duty nurse working in geriatrics. Prior to this, Stephanie spent over a decade as a school nurse managing nurse duties for Dubose Elementary in Alice. In this role, she was responsible for keeping up to date on state regulations, doing health screenings, daily first aid, and in-service training. Stephanie interacted daily with parents regarding student medications and health care.

Stephanie brings a joyful enthusiasm and energy to her expanded role as an LVN caring for seniors. She is hands-on, doing rounds with our Villa unit managers, nurturing and training staff, and maintaining annual training requirements. As the wellness director, Stephanie spends a significant part of her day in Stepping Stones dementia section, overseeing activities, ensuring they are lively and running smoothly on a daily basis.

Working closely with Activity Director Robin Cohea Stephanie has provided the Stepping Stones program has more structure, staff training has been enhanced, and residents are more engaged. There is a daily Activity schedule consisting of 4 components: Cognitive, Physical, Physical, Art Therapy and Social. The Team also has a Theater Room schedule directed towards dementia residents on hospice and those that need quiet time.

Stephanie is also a resource to assisted living residents to make sure they have regular check-ins so they remain healthy and independent.

Executive Director Mary Martinez says, Stephanie stood out as a Wellness Director because I felt she’d be a strong advocate for our resident’s health needs. She also loves caring for our residents and the Villa Community. Mary continues, “Stephanie has a calm personality, carries herself in a very professional manner and has integrity towards her nursing profession.”

Stephanie is originally from Alice, TX where she got her LVN nurse degree at the Coastal Bend College. She lives with her husband and has three children, two being teenagers. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, decorating, and gardening.

Stephanie’s enthusiasm and love of seniors shines through in her daily routine. We are delighted to have a nurse of Stephanie’s caliber, compassion and commitment guiding our assisted living and memory care Team. Stephanie has a flexible approach to finding individualized solutions for our Villa families and residents.

For families navigating assisted living options, we encourage you to speak directly with Stephanie at 361.446-7463 to discuss the care of your loved one.
